Northville is an affluent, historic suburb about 27 miles northwest of Detroit that unusually straddles the Wayne-Oakland county line along Eight Mile Road. Its walkable downtown of Victorian storefronts, gas lamps, and long-running dinner theater draws visitors from across Metro Detroit, and its Mill Race Historical Village preserves relocated 19th-century buildings on the river. For 80 years it was also home to Northville Downs, Michigan's last operating horse-racing track until its 2024 closure.
